Adsorption

When the fiber is put into the dye solution, the dye in the dye solution will gradually diffuse and transfer to the surface of the fiber. This process is called adsorption. Adsorption is reversible. Due to the change of the dye concentration in the dye solution, the dye that has been dyed on the fiber will diffuse into the dye solution again. This process is called desorption. During the dyeing process, adsorption and desorption exist at the same time and maintain a balance.

Diffusion

Because the dye is adsorbed on the surface of the fiber, the dye concentration difference between the inside and outside of the fiber is formed, which promotes the diffusion of the dye from the surface of the fiber to the inside. At this time, the dye in the solution continues to adsorb to the fiber surface until the adsorption and desorption reach equilibrium again.

Fixed

The process in which the dye diffused into the fiber is combined with the fiber is called fixation. The fixing method differs depending on the type of dye and fiber.
